Things to Avoid
Mergers are where things in a photo overlap and "merge" to look like they're the same thing (ex. something coming out of someone's head, two bodies & one head, etc). Merging also refers to when the subject or something/someone in the background are partially, accidentally cut off (half a person, feet gone, etc).
Center weighting is when the intended subject is right in the middle of the frame. This often does not look as good as using the rule of thirds.
